yes...i'm still alive!

Dearest friends and family whom I’ve neglected for far too long,

My deepest apologies for not updating my blog…at all. It’s been on my list of things to do since December but, and I imagine this has happened to at least a few of you at some point, LIFE HAPPENED! :) I can’t even describe how unbelievably busy I’ve been. And that was before starting medical school; after January 9, 2012, my life went from crazy to just past berserk.

A few updates: school has started and I love it. Just today, I realized that it compares with the public school down here in the same manner Stanford compares with Berkeley. It’s been tough adjusting to the very different type of students I study with, but I’ve made plenty of friends and it’s very clear I’m studying with many people that will make excellent physicians. The education is also stellar. Today, for example, one of the top neonatologists in the country gave us a lecture on a common condition seen in premature babies.

Second, Wendy and I have opened our internet café, which has been a great success. It’s very challenging – even more so, given I’m studying, but Wendy and I are having a great time and we make a great team. We currently have five computers, but may expand if we get lots of repeat clients.

There’s obviously much more than this to tell, and I’d love to share pictures from my December trip to the coast, where sugar cane is grown here, but it’s going to have to wait. Please email, facebook, call, text, skype or beam me in any other way technology is now letting us communicate…I can always find a few minutes for a quick chat.

Love,
Ben
